According to a police investigation from the scene, icy road conditions caused Claire’s Pontiac to collide with an oncoming BC Hydro truck. The truck driver was uninjured. MPSSCS4950534MPSE Healthcare foundation focuses on orthopedics with campaign Eric Plummer Hinton Parklander The Hinton Healthcare Foundation’s holiday fundraiser has returned with a new emphasis on expanding the hospital’s surgical program for skeletal and muscular ailments. The focus of this year’s Lights in December campaign will be to garner support for the new orthopedic program. Boxes will be set up in 12 locations around town to collect donations, including the Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Centre, the local drug stores and several tire shops. The Healthcare Foundation is also selling flame retardant illumination bags, which can be used as decorations when placed over lights. These items will be sold at the Parks West Mall Nov. 29 and Dec. 5, most likely followed that day by the annual turning on of the hospital’s Christmas lights. In past years the Healthcare Foundation has usually garnered $3,000 from its Lights in December campaign, but plans are more ambitious in 2013. ...

This battle has been fought for years over Brewster Travel’s Glacier Skywalk, a glass-floored observation deck currently being built overlooking the Columbia Icefield. Parks Canada approved the construction of the pay-per-view attraction despite 180,000 Canadians who signed a petition against the development and a warning from the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) that the Skywalk poses a ...
